About me

Experience
I have a wealth of experience working with individual adults and young people and I also work with couples. I regularly work with clients with issues such as depression, anxiety, self- esteem, relationship issues including sexual difficulties, domestic abuse, pain, trauma, stress, bereavement and loss and other issues which could be causing a significant detrimental impact.

I personally as well as professionally have discovered the benefits of therapy; talking to someone who is independent has helped me to understand myself better and has enabled me to find solutions and to move forward.

Counselling Credentials
I gained an Advanced Diploma in Counsllling & Psychotherapy along with a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Certificate in Couples Counselling, Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy, Diploma in Sex Addiction and a Diploma in Supervision. I also have additional training in Addiction, Bereavement, Stress, Suicide intervention and Child and Vulnerable Adult protection.
I have worked with Cruse Bereavement, Childline (NSPCC), New Life Counselling, Fresh Minds Education and Relate NI. I am also registered and work with those insured with AXA, BUPA, Aviva and WPA.
Approach
I believe that balance in life helps to create a positive mental wellbeing and life events and stressors can cause this equilibrium to be tested. Talking about current or past events together with thoughts, feelings, behaviours and beliefs with me can help to make sense of poor mental health. Change is then possible through exploration of what is desired and managing symptoms through practical techniques and improved communication and behaviours.
We live in a world that is becoming increasingly more isolating and this often creates loneliness and discontent. I believe connection is critical for feeling contented and well whether it be through romantic relationships, family, friends and everyday interactions with those we interact with in everyday situations. It’s with hope that I work with people to better understand their own personal situations and to create improvements in their lives going forward to make life more meaningful and fulfilling.

I am a fully Qualified Counsellor and also hold qualifications in working with Couples, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Sex Therapy and Sex Addiction Therapy. I am also a qualified Supervisor of Clinical Practice. With these qualifications I provide expertise in effective counselling tailored to each client’s unique needs.
